BlackRibun team was contacted by a client based in Germany to work on the product design concept of a bag designed to carry necessities for a dog while on a hike, with priority to carry water. Here's a glimpse into our creative design process and the features we incorporated to bring client's idea to life as an actual product.
User research: Gathered insights to understands challenges pet parent face during hike, and what are the necessary items they carry to ensure safety of their pet. Team also delved deep into understanding pet anatomy to ensure bag is ergonomically comfortable for the pet carry it themselves, as requested by the client.
Concept development: Design team brainstormed in multiple direction with primary focus on ergonomics, unique but rich style as requested by the client, and exploring materials to ensure comfort to pet, and required sturdiness during hike. Team worked closely with the client and aligned sketches with client's vision.
Realistic 3D model and renderings: Design engineers brought idea to life by creating a realistic 3D model and rendering of the design which helped client and manufacturer visualise the product in use. It helped fast track the approval and collaboration with manufacturing team.
Testing and refinement: Produced a prototype with 3D printing to perform usability and functionality testing. Based on the insight gathered, design and engineer team worked on resolving highlighted issue and drafted a final design.
This streamlined process helped us to focus on user experience, manufacturability and competitive product's costing. This product design project gave team opportunity to gather experience in pet products and intrigued them to learn more and take more such products in this niche.
